Is Alix suitable with children?
Children are very welcome at brunch and our afterworks! If they feel like drawing, we are happy to provide coloring pages and pencils at the table. If the brunch takes place in the garden, they can explore every corner of the garden. If brunch is held inside the mansion, the garden is also accessible, unless there is a private party going on at that time. If you want to be sure in advance, please ask us.
There is no play equipment in our garden, but you are welcome to bring your favorite toy. Unfortunately, playing football is not allowed, so it remains fun for our other guests and we have no broken windows in the conservatory.
If brunch is held in the garden, there’s definitely room for strollers. The manor house is very cosy but also more compact: we ask that you leave your stroller in the hall so our staff and other guests can keep moving easily.
What about the roms at the B&B? Children aged 12 and over can stay in the B&B. If you book the entire B&B as a holiday home, younger children are also welcome.
I have allergies, can I come to you?
Certainly, we want everyone to be happy! Mention your dietary requirements when making your reservation and we will make sure you won’t be short of anything!
Can I see on a calendar which dates are still available?
At Alix, planning is quite a puzzle: sometimes the entire location is reserved for an event, sometimes only one room, we organize brunches and events ourselves,…
Let us know via the request form for how many people and on what date or in what period you would like to plan a dinner or party. You will always receive a quick answer about availability.
Are dogs welcome in the restaurant and garden?
We are dog-friendly, for friendly dogs 😉
Hosting a party, how much does it cost?
That depends on a lot of choices. Will you reserve the large garden location, or a cozy spot in our mansion? Are you planning a summer party or opting for the coziness of winter? Would you like brunch or would you prefer a party with an elaborate reception and walking dinner? Or just a party with Apérol and pizza?
For the space or location, you pay a fixed cost. In addition, you pay a price per person for the food and drinks, based on an offer that you put together. Download our brochure and you will already find many indicative prices and examples. Fill out the contact form and we will provide you with a quote tailored to your needs!
Can we host a dance party?
Alix is in the center of Ghent in a densely populated neighborhood. Since most of our party’s take place in our garden, we therefore have to finish at around 10 pm. Still feel like continuing the party on a dance floor afterwards? We are happy to share our tips with you!
The fact that the dance party cannot be at the same location sometimes deters, but it can also be an asset to make a (wedding) party even more unique and “off the beaten track.
For a dance party afterwards, a lot depends on the number of people you are looking for a venue for. E.g.: will all guests from our garden join the dance party, or only part of the party? Will an additional group of friends or family join?
Our favorite place to dance is café De Karper. The atmosphere there is as loose an approachable as at Alix, and the biggest advantage is its location in our own street, less than 5 minutes walk away. This cozy cafe can be booked privately on Saturday nights and you can bring your own DJ.
We also had clients in the past who planned their dance parties at Captain Cravate, Le Bal Infernal or Cocteau.
Where can I park?
Alix is within walking distance of the Gent-Sint-Pieters train station, making it easily accessible by both bus/tram and train.
Bikes can be placed in the bike shed on our property.
The closest public parking is the B parking of station, it is less than a 10-minute walk from Alix. Use navigation (Waze/Google Maps) to enter the parking lot.
You can also park on the street (pay parking 9am-7pm, about €1.8/hour, yellow parking zone). Use the on-street parking meters, or a parking app such as 4411 or EasyPark. Pay attention to parking signs and resident spaces.
Alix is outside the low-emission zone.
