You can book a room with or without breakfast.

From Monday through Saturday, breakfast is served in the B&B’s cozy dining room. We serve a hearty start to the day, featuring bread and spreads, yogurt with granola and fresh fruit, an egg, a pastry, a glass of local apple juice, and pour-over coffee or tea.

Breakfast at the B&B is served between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Please let us know the day before what time you’d like to have breakfast.

On Sundays, there is no breakfast at the B&B; instead, we invite you to join us for brunch in our restaurant or garden (except when the brunch restaurant is closed). At brunch, you’ll find an extensive buffet featuring not only breakfast items but also a variety of salads and vegetable dishes, as well as a small dessert. Sunday brunch is served starting at 10 a.m.

If you booked a room with breakfast, Sunday brunch (or Saturday brunch, if available) is included in the price. If you didn’t book breakfast with your room, you can still order it on-site the day before (€25.00 per person for breakfast / €40 per person for brunch).

Looking for a tasty bite in our neighborhood? Then you can go to Zuru Zuru for delicious ramen, all Japanese style. The better brasserie can be found on the square in front of St. Peter’s Station, at Café Parti. And if you like gastronomic dining, Kruidtuin and Jan van den Bon are absolutely recommended.

But there are so many great places in Ghent that it would be impossible to list them all here. That’s why we’ve put together a handy list on Google Maps. And if you’ve made a reservation and use WhatsApp, you’ll automatically get access to our guest app, which is full of practical info, as well as tips on where to eat, drink, shop, or find things to do.

We accept all common bank cards with Bancontact and Maestro, as well as Mastercard, Visa and American Express.

You can also pay with Payconiq at Alix.

Cash only creates risks, and it’s not exactly clean either. So leave those bills in the bank as much as possible. That’s safer for you and for us.

We work without reservations for the afterworks, everyone is welcome from 4pm.

Online brunch reservations can be made from 6 weeks in advance (sometimes earlier for special dates/parties). You cannot click on a date if the reservations are not yet open or if we are closed on that day (e.g. holiday or exceptional closing day on which there is no brunch).

If online booking is possible, but the reservation system does not find a place for you, you can register on the waiting list. The system will notify us so that we can manually check for you to see if there might still be a place. If there is, we will call you as soon as possible!

The system doesn’t always automatically find a spot for larger groups either. If you’d like to visit with more than 10 people but there’s no space available, please send an email to info@alix.gent—we’d be happy to see what we can do for you.

That’s right—our motto is: something for everyone! Just let us know your dietary preferences when you make your reservation, and we’ll make sure you have everything you need.

Most of our brunch menu is vegetarian. The only meat we serve is fried bacon (optional with the scrambled eggs) and fried and Italian ham. But even if you follow a vegan diet, we’d be happy to make sure you can enjoy our brunch. Just let us know when you make your reservation, and we’ll make sure to have plant-based milk and yogurt, among other options, available for you.

Baby on the way? Even in that case, you can enjoy our brunch buffet without worries: there is a wide selection of pregnancy-safe treats. All the dairy we use during brunch is pasteurized. All vegetables are thoroughly rinsed and there are also prepared (non-raw) vegetables. Only the smoked salmon might be best left out.

At Alix, planning is quite a puzzle: sometimes the entire location is reserved for an event, sometimes only one room, we organize brunches and events ourselves,…

That depends on a lot of choices. Will you reserve the large garden location, or a cozy spot in our mansion? Are you planning a summer party or opting for the coziness of winter? Would you like brunch or would you prefer a party with an elaborate reception and walking dinner? Or just a party with Apérol and pizza?

For the space or location, you pay a fixed cost. In addition, you pay a price per person for the food and drinks, based on an offer that you put together. Alix is in the center of Ghent in a densely populated neighborhood. Since most of our party’s take place in our garden, we therefore have to finish at around 10 pm. Still feel like continuing the party on a dance floor afterwards? We are happy to share our tips with you!

The fact that the dance party cannot be at the same location sometimes deters, but it can also be an asset to make a (wedding) party even more unique and “off the beaten track.

For a dance party afterwards, a lot depends on the number of people you are looking for a venue for. E.g.: will all guests from our garden join the dance party, or only part of the party? Will an additional group of friends or family join?

Our favorite place to dance is café De Karper. The atmosphere there is as loose an approachable as at Alix, and the biggest advantage is its location in our own street, less than 5 minutes walk away. This cozy cafe can be booked privately on Saturday nights and you can bring your own DJ.

We also had clients in the past who planned their dance parties at Captain Cravate, Le Bal Infernal or Cocteau.

Alix is within walking distance of the Gent-Sint-Pieters train station, making it easily accessible by both bus/tram and train.

Bikes can be placed in the bike shed on our property.

The closest public parking is the B parking of station, it is less than a 10-minute walk from Alix. Use navigation (Waze/Google Maps) to enter the parking lot (via Valentin Vaerwyckweg/R4 or Sint-Denijslaan).

You can also park on the street (pay parking 9am-7pm, about €2.2/hour, yellow parking zone, free on Sundays). Use the on-street parking meters, or a parking app such as 4411 or EasyPark. Pay attention to parking signs and resident spaces.
Alix is outside the low-emission zone.

If you want to be sure in advance whether there will be indoor or outdoor brunch, feel free to ask before your specific date.

Welcoming so many guests to brunch every weekend does not happen by itself, it requires a whole organization, infrastructure and planning. Therefore, we also cannot move brunch from inside to outside and vice versa in a snap depending on the weather of the day. Twice a year we make a big SWITCH. In spring – sometime in early May – we move outside, all the tables are under one of our tents and you’ll find the buffet in the conservatory. Is it chilly for the time of year? Then there are fleece blankets and patio heaters, and then we ask you to put on an extra sweater. In the fall – around early October – we move the brunch cirucs indoors and welcome you to the two floors of our cozy mansion. The buffet is on the second floor.

The rates for the guest rooms at B&B Chambre d’Amis are dynamic. This means they may vary based on occupancy and demand, both at Chambre d’Amis and at other B&Bs and hotels in the area. Sometimes the rates will be slightly higher than average, but during quieter periods, you may be able to book a stay at a lower rate.

We don’t have any bicycles ourselves, but you can go to De Fietsambassade. At the Gent-Sint-Pieters station, and therefore within walking distance of Alix.
